Region of ancient volcanism dominated by basaltic rocks prospective for copper-rich VMS deposits. Kuniko holds several green and brownfield Copper-Zinc prospects located in the prolific Røros Copper region, a copper belt which has historical hosted Tier 1-2 mines, including the Løkken Mine with historical production of 30 Mt @ 2.1 % Cu, 1.9 % Zn & 0.2 g/t Au. The district shows potential for large, economically attractive deposits.

Kuniko holds exclusive licenses with promising exploration targets  across three project areas:

  1. Undal-Nyberget
  2. Vågå
  3. Gullvåg

Targets on these projects are supported by geophysical and geochemical anomalies.

Historical production from Undal mine had grades of 1.15 % Cu, 1.86 % Zn, while adjacent, Nyberget has surface grades up to 2% Cu.

Highly prospective greenstone belt in the Norwegian Caledonides

Kuniko has three project areas in the Trondheim Nappe Complex:

Undal-Nyberget Project, is focused on exploring the Tverfjellet-trend for VMS-systems, with proven potential for attractive scales and grades.

Vågå Project is focused on a southern continuation of the geology that hosts the Folldal District, including the Vågåmo Ophiolite, a similar geological setting to the Løkken Mine

Gullvåg Project aims to investigate an undeveloped, outcropping Cu-Zn VMS system with along-strike potential for additional mineralisation

Kuniko’s exploration efforts are targeting geology with high potential for sizable VMS-style Cu-Zn deposits within the Norwegian Caledonites’ greenstone belt. These targets are supported by both geophysical and geochemical anomalies. The Trøndelag region is located in central Norway and is known for its prospectivity regarding copper-rich VMS deposits. Additionally, the Røros Copper district has demonstrated potential for large, economically viable deposits. This area has historically hosted Tier 1-2 mines such as Løkken Verk, which yielded approximately 30 million tonnes at grades of 2.1% Cu, 1.9% Zn, and 0.2 g/t Au. Kuniko’s exploration strategy integrates analysis of historical datasets with its own findings to refine target selection.

Exploration activities carried out by Kuniko includes:

  • Desktop Study Completed
  • SkyTEM
  • Drilling
  • Soil, Rock samples
  • Recon mapping

Next steps:

  • Targeted field mapping and sampling in the Undal-Nyberget license area planned for 2024, Understanding the geological similarities between the Nyberget and Tverfjellet mines will assist to unlock the extensive greenfield potential of the project area/
  • Future fieldwork will aim to deliniate the lateral extent and continuity of the surficial mineralisation and ground-truth the prospective magnetic anomalies identified along the target trends at Gullvåg and Vågå
